24-Apr-10: Runners including Princess Beatrice and Natalie Imbruglia make final preparations before 26-mile race
. . . .
The London Marathon traditionally sees celebrities of all shapes and sizes run to raise money for charity, and this year is no exception. Natalie Imbruglia, Princess Beatrice, Ricky Whittle and Michelle Heaton were among the stars undertaking some final preparation for tomorrow's race at a press conference in London on today.
While Michelle admitted she is 'starting to panic' about taking on the 26-mile course tomorrow, Princess Beatrice seemed unconcerned about the task ahead, glowing as she posed for pictures - proudly showing off the new trim figure she has achieved through months of marathon training.
After recovering from an over-excited Sir Richard Branson lifting her up and dangling her upside down at today's press conference, Australian singer Natalie admitted she is nervous, but also excited, about the big race. Natalie, 35, who started training on the beach in December, said: 'I'm not a long-distance runner. After my 20-mile training run I couldn't walk.
'I've always been very much into keeping fit and exercising but I would never run for longer than half an hour. 'Anybody could run a marathon. You just have to start training very slowly. 'It's such a massive personal goal to take on. I think we're all going to be very emotional when we cross that finish line.'
Met Office forecaster Barry Gromett said: 'It will be quite a comfortable day if you’re not running 26 miles, but not ideal for the runners.' If the temperature does reach its expected high, it will make tomorrow's marathon the third hottest marathon since records began in 1981.

11-Apr-10: Kylie and Natalie Imbruglia enjoy a girls' day out in sunny London, 10 April 2010
. . .
Their paths never actually crossed once during their time on Ramsay Street. But while Kylie and Natalie Imbruglia may not have been good Neighbours, they've definitely become very good friends. The Aussie beauties made the most of the warm spring British weather to join each other for a leisurely shopping jaunt down London's Portobello Road today.
Kylie, 41, radiated the mood of the day in a bright and sunny orange dress which she teamed with bare legs, pink open-toed sandals, black Ray Bans and a basket-weave bag. Natalie, 35, however, stuck to rock-chick black in a leather jacket, leggings and chunky heeled lace-up shoes, but injected a splash of spring colour with a bright blue floral blouse. The girls happily posed for pictures as they had a nose around the shops in the trendy west London district.
And despite their pop princess statuses, their fellow shoppers nonchalantly paid no attention to them as they shared a joke in the street. Earlier, the girls, who both live in London, were snapped leaving Marylebone's trendy 10 Manchester Place hotel where they had a spot of lunch and, because of their busy schedules, a long and overdue catch-up natter.
Natalie got back to London a couple of weeks ago after spending three months in Australia, but has returned to Blighty to continue training for this year's London Marathon. Four days ago, she went out for a 20 mile run and Tweeted: 'I am shattered! Feet are sore, but am so happy. I know I will cross the finish line now.' Meanwhile, Kylie revealed her fitness secret yesterday after a Power Plate, a favourite among A-listers, was delivered to her house. The device, which retails at £7,995, works by giving the body muscles a high speed workout, as the vibrations make them contract and relax up to 50 times a second.

05-Apr-10: Annie Lennox To Launch Star-Studded Charity Shop
A selection of A-list stars have joined Oxfam and Selfridges to create, set-up, stock and staff Britain’s biggest charity pop-up shop.
From Friday 14 May to Thursday 20 May Selfridges’ Ultralounge, the London store’s permanent arts and exhibition space, will be transformed into The Oxfam Curiosity Shop – staffed by celebrities from Annie Lennox to Zoe Ball with all proceeds going to Oxfam. Curated by an elite team, including Whistles CEO Jane Shepherdson, The Oxfam Curiosity Shop will be stocked with over six thousand of handpicked vintage and high-end items. This fabulous product line-up will include clothing, accessories, music, books, homewares and art, all donated to Oxfam shops and boutiques across the country.
Shoppers will be able to browse fantastic one-offs; from a special collection of Livia Firth’s red carpet dresses, to items from icons including Alexa Chung, Annie Lennox, Helen Mirren, Natalie Imbruglia and Corinne Bailey Rae and designer donations from Vivienne Westwood, Stella McCartney, Roger Vivier and more. Annie Lennox will launch the shop with an exclusive evening event and a live performance to a select 250 paying guests. As the week progresses, VIP names will be hosting the shop, helping to sell their items and offer visitors a once-in-a-lifetime shopping experience.
Located on the lower ground floor of the London store, The Oxfam Curiosity Shop at Selfridges will have the feel of an upmarket flea market but will offer the most affordable prices, with all proceeds going directly to women’s projects supported by Oxfam. Funds raised by the shop will be supporting Oxfam’s women’s projects across the world including Bangladesh, India, Sri Lanka, Democratic Republic of Congo, West Africa and South Africa. These projects protect, support and empower vulnerable women: campaigning against violence, empowering them to fight HIV and AIDS and offering the poorest girls the chance of education.
